Inner City Walk

Last Sunday (04 Nov), the photography club I’m a member of organised a photo-walk in and around the inner city streets of Wellington. To make it more interesting, the event wasn’t exclusive to the club, other photography enthusiasts were invited to come and participate. The more the merrier, right?

Our starting point was the Bucket Fountain on Cuba Street and we were to end at the National War Memorial / Massey University Campus. It wasn’t a short walk because we had a stop over at Wigan Street, and then headed off to College Street for lunch (which explains the 2 cm increase in my belly button meh-surements) . It may have been 4 km over all. We started off at 10:00 and called it a day at about 2:00pm.

The main purpose of the event was for the attendees to get the most creative picture of the Bucket Fountain, Cuba Street’s most famous landmark, which apparently, has its own website! 😮 I took about 35 photos of the Bucket Fountain and these three are my faves.

Afterwards, we walked up Cuba Street and turned left on Vivian and had a rest at the Cobblestone Park by Dunlop Terrace. We had a short detour at Frederick Street to look at an old church that has been converted into a woodworking shop, and then headed off to College Street to have a bite to eat. And then, we crossed the interchange and spent some time taking photos at the National War Memorial (being strengthened) and Massey University. Some images from that leg of the photo walk, below:

It was tiring – but it was a lot of fun. Met new people and learned new things. It was an extremely good day! The next photo walk is on the 16th – we’ll be taking photos of waterfalls this time. Crikey! That should be exciting! I hope we have great weather on that day!

That's not exactly a flattering image. Eh! Anyway, when I'm not taking photos, I do acrylic painting or write about my adventures (and misadventures) in this wonderful journey called life. :)
